The 911 Turbo lineup has always enjoyed high acclaim among car enthusiasts. The sixth-generation Porsche 911 Turbo was first unveiled to the public on February 28, 2006, at the Geneva Motor Show and went on sale in Germany in June 2006. The model produced 353 kW (480 hp), which is 60 horsepower more than its predecessor. Torque rose to 620 newton-meters and is available over a wider rev range than before, improving flexibility and performance. The 997.1-generation Turbo is one of the last models to feature the highly sought-after Mezger engine.
The M97/70 engine, also known by the nickname “Mezger,” is Porsche’s flat-six based on motorsport technology. It features a dry-sump lubrication system, separate crankcase and cylinder construction, and is renowned for its durability as well as its ability to handle high power and track use. The name comes from the famous Porsche engineer Hans Mezger, who designed the engine architecture originally used in GT1 racing cars.
Technical improvements in the 997.1, such as the variable-geometry turbocharger used for the first time in a gasoline engine, the new Porsche Traction Management all-wheel-drive system, and more powerful brakes, significantly enhanced the driving experience, and the powerband improved considerably thanks to the new turbocharging technology. The exterior was sharpened with a wider rear and a redesigned front end. The model was produced from 2007 to 2009, with a total of 15,626 units built.
This example is finished in metallic Basalt Black, and the interior is equally elegant with black leather sport seats and Alcantara roof lining. Tinted rear windows and 19” OZ Superforgiata wheels complete the stunning overall appearance.
The car is comprehensively equipped, featuring the Sport Chrono Plus package, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Stability Management (PSM), Bose sound system, and an updated infotainment system supporting Apple and Android CarPlay. The steering wheel has been updated to a newer 991.2-style version with paddle shifters.
The car has been upgraded by Jan Fatthauer’s highly regarded team at 9FF in Germany, delivering supercar-level performance while retaining Porsche’s quality and durability (http://www.9ff.com). The car drives easily and civilized as long as the driver chooses. Only the low growl of the exhaust and the four exhaust tips reveal its hidden character.
The car comes with a service book and documentation of maintenance and inspections performed in Sweden and Finland. It is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
