The 3.0-litre Turbo was introduced in 1975 and remained in production until 1977. From the outset, build quality was exceptional, and development has continued ever since. These cars were equipped with the first low-profile tyres available on the market (Pirelli P7 in widths 205 and 225). The engine produced 260 hp, with notable turbo lag—full boost was only reached at around 4,000 rpm (though racing modifications could reduce this to below 3,000 rpm). Early cars did not feature an intercooler, and the rear wing was identical to that of the Carrera. Porsche reinforced the 915 gearbox but ultimately introduced the stronger 4-speed 930 unit. Braking components were derived from the 911 S, with aluminium calipers at the front.

As the top model, the Turbo was also well equipped, featuring electric mirrors, power windows, automatic climate control, and more. The car’s history, specification, and original delivery market are well documented. This particular 930 3.0 was delivered new to Japan in 1977 and is chassis number 86, equipped with: C08 (Japan market), 469 black headliner, 559 air conditioning, and 15” Fuchs wheels (with 185/70 and 215/60 tyres).

In 2016, the car underwent a body restoration and interior refurbishment. As a 1977 model (manufactured in September 1976), it would originally have been fitted with 7 and 8 x 16 Fuchs wheels, but the first owner specified 15” wheels instead. The car was imported to Finland in 2010 and has had three owners since; the current owner has held it since 2017. The last service was carried out at 144,000 km.

Prior to import, a 3.3-litre engine and a 1978 Turbo rear wing were installed in Japan. The air conditioning compressor is currently removed, but the parts are included with the car. Aside from the engine and rear wing, the car remains largely original.

The Turbo 3.0 is one of the most iconic sports cars in the world, with early examples especially highly regarded. Production numbers were low, making it rare to find another car with similar specifications. The first-generation 911 Turbo was produced between 1975 and 1977 in just 2,880 units.
