The Porsche 996 was a revolutionary, clean-sheet redesign of the 911 that replaced air-cooling with water-cooling to meet emission standards. Introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1997, the 996 launched as a coupe with a 3.4-liter flat-six engine. It was 30 mm wider and 173 mm longer than the 993, with 45% more torsional stiffness.

Another break with tradition was the new-look headlights that debuted with the Porsche 996. Porsche designers Pinky Lai and Grant Larson seamlessly integrated them into the contours of the nose and bumper. There weren’t many manufacturers choosing to merge indicators and headlights in this way at the time, making them all the more distinctive—a design feature that is now starting to gain interest among Porsche enthusiasts.

Since 1989, the rear-wheel-drive Carrera has always been accompanied by an all-wheel-drive Carrera 4. Porsche introduced the PSM (Porsche Stability Management) from the 996 model range as an option on the Carrera 2 and standard equipment on the Carrera 4. The all-wheel-drive system provides between 5–40% of torque to the front wheels.

This beautiful 996 Carrera 4 is a Generation 1 example, registered in Germany on May 14th, 2000. It had two owners in Germany before being exported to Sweden in 2006 with 104,820 km on the odometer. The car found its way to Finland in late 2019 with around 175,000 km on the clock, and since then it has had two careful owners in Finland and has been meticulously maintained, with documented service history. The engine performs perfectly, and its health has been monitored during services.

The car is in truly beautiful condition and benefits from an extensive options list, including some very sought-after features such as the MX51 Powerkit, which increases power output to 315 hp. It also has the coveted M030 sports suspension option and a large leather package, making the sporty interior feel even more luxurious. The engine sound is nicely enhanced by the optional Strosek exhaust system, which was available as a factory option.

The eye-catching black paintwork is in nice condition. Inside, the black interior complements the exterior beautifully. Completing the look are the 18-inch Turbo-look wheels painted in matching black. The car has recently been serviced and is ready for its next caretaker.
