The second evolution of the 997-generation Porsche 911, known as the 997.2, was introduced for the 2009 model year. In addition to its refreshed exterior design, the facelift brought significant technical improvements. The Carrera received a new 3.6-litre direct-injection flat-six engine, while the traditional Tiptronic automatic transmission was replaced by Porsche’s seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission for the first time in a 911 Carrera.
 
The 997.2 is particularly well known for its revised and reliable engine design. The new-generation direct-injection engine represented a significant technical evolution over its predecessor, and the 997.2 has developed an excellent reputation for both reliability and longevity. Combined with the fast-shifting PDK transmission, hydraulic power steering and compact proportions of the 997 generation, it offers an excellent balance between the traditional 911 driving experience and modern everyday usability.
