About the Car
The 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 is one of the most legendary models in American automotive history. Carroll Shelby developed the GT350 in cooperation with Ford Motor Company to transform the new Ford Mustang into a true high-performance car for both the street and the racetrack. The first-generation GT350 was produced from 1965 to 1966, and only 562 examples of the 1965 model were built, making it one of the rarest and most desirable Shelby Mustangs ever made.
Compared to the standard Mustang, the GT350 received significant technical and visual upgrades. It was powered by a specially tuned 289 cubic-inch V8 engine producing approximately 306 horsepower. The car also featured a stiffer suspension, more powerful brakes, improved steering, and several other race-inspired enhancements. Early models even had the rear seats removed to save weight.
Visually, the GT350 was recognized by its Wimbledon White paintwork with blue Le Mans stripes, functional hood scoop, and distinctive Shelby details. The interior emphasized a driver-focused racing atmosphere with a wood-rim steering wheel, competition-style gauges, and a minimalist cockpit.
The GT350 quickly earned iconic status both on the racetrack and among street enthusiasts, and it remains one of the most respected American muscle cars of all time.
Our car is a 1965 Mustang Fastback that has been thoroughly restored and upgraded both mechanically and cosmetically, and it remains in excellent condition both visually and technically. It is powered by its original C-code 289 V8 engine and has been built in authentic GT350 style.
The body was repainted in its original Wimbledon White color during the winter of 2026 and finished with correctly shaded Guardsman Blue Le Mans stripes. As the finishing touch, the car features Carroll Shelby Terlingua Racing Team logos. The interior is in exceptionally clean condition and follows the GT350 spirit with a wood-rim steering wheel and dashboard-mounted gauge pods. The seats and door panels are upholstered in black leather. In the style of the earliest GT350 models, the rear seat area has been replaced with a spare tire covered by a protective trim panel. The hood is the lightweight fiberglass GT350-style version, and the front bumper follows the GT350R design.
The car’s mechanics have been comprehensively rebuilt, and the original C-code 289 V8 engine has recently been fully refurbished and performance upgraded. The engine rebuild included, among other things: block machining, new pistons and piston rings, new performance camshafts and bearings, a new timing chain, new aluminum cylinder heads, a new clutch, transmission overhaul, a new starter motor, and a new Holley 600 four-barrel carburetor. In addition, numerous other components have been replaced, with receipts included.
The car has also been fitted with Monroe air suspension, improving overall drivability and usability. Furthermore, four-wheel disc brakes have been installed, significantly enhancing stopping performance. The sound of the 289 V8 is absolutely stunning, and the car’s presence attracts plenty of positive attention and smiles from both passersby and the driver alike.
The car made its public debut this year at the American Car Show, where it achieved an impressive third-place finish in the Classic Cars category — a testament to the quality of the build and its striking appearance.
This truly exceptional car must be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Feel free to get in touch for additional information, photos, and video material of the car.
